During covid, my roommates and I would celebrate birthdays on a smaller scale, which meant a lot of pinatas. Looking inside the pinatas I saw all the newspaper they used to construct it. It make me think about how pinatas are typographic objects. And thinking about it, pinatas are a strange tradition. It’s an act of violence disguised by a celebratory context. In the same way, heartbreak is really sorrow that disguises itself as anger.
So these pinatas are the boxes that you use to collect all of your exes things, and, if they were a real asshole, you take that box, you hang it up, and you beat it, and all of his shit, with a bat. Because you are that bitch, and you needed it, and, damnit, he deserves it.
